Olympic Trials Media Accreditation

Members of the media must apply for credentials in order to cover the U.S. Olympic Trials and other Olympic qualifying events.

There are a limited number of media credentials available for the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials. Certain guidelines will be in effect to determine who receives these credentials. These guidelines include:

  • Must be a member of the media representing a newspaper, magazine, wire service, Internet site, recognized photo agency, or broadcast organization.
  • Internet-based organizations will be credentialed with guidelines established by the International Olympic Committee. The organization has to be a recognized news-gathering site with staff members reporting the news.
  • Non rights-holding broadcasters must agree to guidelines of coverage.
  • Photographers must agree to the Olympic Trials guidelines undertaking.
  • Requests for accreditation must come from one contact in the organization.

The credential application process will begin on January 15, 2008. There may be a limitation on the number of journalist credentials issued for this event. All journalists are encouraged to apply early. The first credential acceptance letters for the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials will be sent on February 22, 2008. Others will be sent on a regular basis through April 4, 2008. Journalists placed on a waiting list will be informed immediately. Consideration for credentials will be based upon USA Triathlon media credential regulations. Broadcast journalists may be required to agree to certain restrictions in order to receive credentials and broadcasting privileges. Information will be provided after credential application is received. Feel free to photocopy. Information on hotel accommodations and other services will be sent with acceptance literature.
