USA Triathlon Releases Team USA Qualifying Standards

USA Triathlon November 19, 2009

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — USA Triathlon (USAT) has announced qualifying information for the 2010 and 2011 International Triathlon Union World Championships. USAT offers athletes a unique opportunity of competing for spots on Team USA to represent the U.S. at multisport events around the world.

In 2010, ITU will host World Championships in Budapest, Hungary; Immenstadt, Germany; and Edinburgh, Scotland. Beijing, China and Henderson, Nev., USA, have been announced as locations for 2011 World Championships.

New for 2010 is the USA Triathlon Rankings Qualifier, which allows the top 20 USAT ranked athletes in each age group to vie for two World Championship slots per age group. For 2010, the new qualifier is applicable for the Short Course (Olympic) Triathlon World Championships, Short Course Duathlon World Championships and Sprint Triathlon World Championships. "The upcoming ITU World Championships will take athletes to Hungary, Scotland, Germany, China and one of the most famous U.S. cities – Las Vegas," said Amanda Duke, USA Triathlon's Team USA coordinator. "With the immense success from our 2009 season, we are very optimistic for terrific 2010 and 2011 seasons. The Team USA athletes really are the cream of the crop and their hard work is paying off on the world stage."
