I have been bitten by the triathlon bug. I've done a lot of research and am ready to purchase a bike. With the research I have found everything leads to a triathlon bike for comfort, speed, and the run. But when I go through the photos of the big races on this website it appears everyone is riding a road bike. Can someone tell me why this is? |

Most likely what you are seeing are photos from Pro, draft-legal races which are quite different from age group draft illegal races. If you're just doing tris, by all means go with a tri bike. If you think you might want to try bike racing or do a lot of group riding, then a road bike comes into consideration (a road bike is legal in a tri, a tri bike is not legal in a bike race.)
