- What is the membership application process?
There are two ways to process your membership with USA Triathlon. You can either purchase it online, or print an application and mail or fax it to our office. Once your application has been received, please allow one week for your information to be updated online, and an additional two weeks for your membership materials to arrive in the mail. Once your information is updated on our web site, you can print out a temporary membership card by going to your Membership Dashboard. 719-955-2685 (fax) - I have a race this weekend. How can I become a member before then?
The fastest way to purchase or renew your annual USAT membership is through your Membership Dashboard. Once the transaction is completed, you will be able to print a temporary card to take with you to the race as proof of your USAT membership. - I recently submitted my application and I want to register for upcoming races as a USAT member, but I have not been assigned a membership number yet. What can I do?
While you are waiting for a membership number to be assigned, you can register for upcoming events by writing “PENDING” where it asks for your membership number. This is also accepted at most races that have online registration. Please be aware that you must provide proof of membership at packet pick-up, or you will be required to purchase a one-day license. - I recently submitted my annual membership application, but I have not received materials to show proof of membership at the race. What can I do?
Approximately a week after we have received your membership application you can print a temporary membership card through your Membership Dashboard and bring this with you to the race. If it has been a week and your information is not online, please contact membership by email or phone (719-955-2807). Please allow ample time for processing when submitting your application via fax or mail. If you have a race in less than one week, you will need to purchase your membership online so you can print a temporary card immediately. - I purchased an annual membership at an event but my application has not been processed and I have a race coming up, how do I provide proof of USAT membership?
You should have been given a yellow copy of your membership application at the event, this will suffice as proof of membership until your application has been processed. If you did not receive your yellow receipt when you signed up for a membership you will need to contact the Race Director and request a copy. - I purchased an annual USAT membership at a sanctioned event and have not yet received my membership card. Should I be concerned?
If it has been six weeks since the event, please contact the Membership Department by email or phone (719-955-2807). Remember to keep your purchase receipt! Without proof of purchase, it becomes difficult for us to track down your membership. - I purchased a one-day at a previous event and would like to apply that towards an annual membership. How do I do that?
To receive credit toward an annual membership, the receipt from the purchase must be attached to your application along with providing the remaining payment due. Only one receipt can be applied per annual membership. The receipt is valid for one year from the day of the race. Please also note that this discount cannot be submitted online, only via fax or mail.

Once applications are received please allow three to six weeks for your membership packet to be delivered in the mail. Feel free to also check on your membership status online. If you purchased your membership online, your information will appear immediately. It generally takes one week for your membership information to appear online when you purchase your membership via fax or mail. - I paid for a one day license at a race because I did not have my card with me, can I be reimbursed?
No. We do not issue reimbursements for one-day licenses purchased by annual members. You can save the receipt from the one-day license purchase, however, and use it as a credit toward your membership renewal. - How can I change the address on my membership card?
Reporting a change of address will not generate a new card, but it is important that your information remains current. You can view your membership profile online and submit changes there. You may also call membership at (719-955-2807), send a note by mail, or email membership. Be sure to include your member number, name, old address, and new address. When you next renew, your new card will reflect the change. Please allow one week for changes to be posted on the web site when submitted via mail or fax. Changes made online will be reflected immediately. - Is a USAT membership based on a calendar year or a revolving year?
It is based on a revolving year. Your annual membership is good for one year to the end of the month; for example if you purchase a membership on June 15th, it would not expire until June 30th of the following year. - How do I renew?
Renewal applications are available at events, for download, and we also offer paperless online renewal through your Membership Dashboard. USA Triathlon e-mails and snail mails several renewal notices two months prior to your expiration date, so please keep your contact information with us current. If you do not receive a notice, we may have an old or incorrect address for you. Each time you renew, we must have both a completed application and signed waiver. Please note, renewing early will extend your membership 12 months from the original expiration date. If you let your membership lapse, you will receive a 12-month membership from when you submit your renewal. Your membership number will remain the same. - Can I renew my expired membership over the phone?
No. USAT needs a current application and signed waiver on file each time you renew for insurance purposes. - Can I renew my membership early?
Yes, you may renew your membership any time prior to your membership expiration date. This will not affect the length of your membership. An additional twelve months is added to your current expiration date. - I forgot my USAT card at home. Do I need to present it at a USAT sanctioned event?
YES. You MUST present a current USAT membership card and photo ID at all USAT sanctioned events. If you cannot provide proof of membership, you will have to purchase a one-day license for $10 or renew your membership if you wish to compete. Please remember, we do not issue reimbursements for one-day licenses purchased by annual members. - I have misplaced my membership card, how can I receive another one?
There are three ways in which to receive a replacement card: Visit the Membership Dashboard and follow the instructions to print a temporary card. Take your temporary membership card with you to events along with your photo ID. This card is just as acceptable as your original. ... You may renew your membership for an additional 12 months and receive a new card. The additional year will be added to your current expiration date. ... You may purchase a new card by logging into your Membership Dashboard for $5. A one-day license allows an athlete to compete in a USAT sanctioned race without purchasing an annual membership. The $10 fee provides the athlete with excess accident insurance for that race only. A one-day license cannot be purchased through the national office. Many events allow you to purchase the one-day license when you register. If this is not an option, make sure to bring $10 with you to packet pick-up, or become an annual member. Please check with the race director for further information. - I am participating as part of a relay team for my next triathlon. Does each member on my team need to purchase a USAT membership?
Yes, for insurance purposes all participants on a relay team are required to be either an annual USAT member, or purchase a one-day license. - After paying the $39 for an annual membership, I am curious as to how that money is being used. Can you clarify this for me?
The membership dues are used for the development, research, and upkeep of USA Triathlon age-group programs, such as championships, event sanctioning, officiating, rankings, membership, media, etc. There is a misconception that membership dollars fund professional athletes. In reality, they are primarily funded through sponsorship and U.S. Olympic Committee support. - I am interested in becoming a pro/elite triathlete. What procedures do I need to follow?

Once your membership has been processed, you may request your pdf rulebook by emailing membership. If you purchased your membership via mail or fax, please allow one week before contacting USAT.
