Dr. Potts played football for Yale… Brother, Tyler, is a graduate student in architecture in Denver… Sister, Alice, lives in Eugene, Ore., and was a swimmer at Colorado State University… Andy married Lisa Simes, who was an acrobat for Cirque du Soleil's 'O' show in Las Vegas, on Jan. 30, 2004… The two met at the University of Michigan, where Lisa was a gymnast and Andy was a swimmer… Has a son, Boston Thomas Potts... Elite Triathlon Career: 2007 Pan American Games gold medalist... 2007 USAT Elite National Champion... 2007 Ironman 70.3 World Champion… Champion at Escape to Bermuda and Escape from Alcatraz in 2007… Top American (11th overall) at ITU World Championship in Hamburg, Germany… Finished 3rd in World Rankings in 2006... Has two World Cup wins on his resume... Qualified for the 2004 Olympic team by finishing as the second American, 11th overall, at the 2004 ITU Triathlon World Championships in Madeira, Portugal. Hunter Kemper, who was the first American, had already qualified for the team... Qualified for his first world triathlon championships by finishing fifth overall (2nd U.S.) at the Race to Athens - Honolulu triathlon on April 18, 2004... Had two top-10 finishes at ITU World Cup races in 2003, his first full year of elite/professional racing… In 2003, joined the resident team that trains at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo… Went pro/elite in January of 2003.

Amateur Triathlon Career:  Was the first U.S. finisher, and 13th overall, at the 2002 Tokyo ITU International Triathlon… Placed third in the elite amateur division of the 2002 Lifetime Fitness Triathlon in Minneapolis, Minn.

Athletic Background:  Was a member of the USA Swimming National Team from 1995-97… Was a member of the University of Michigan swim team from 1995-99 and captain in 1998-99… Was a member of the Michigan track team in 1999-2000… Finished fourth in the 400-meter individual medley and 11th in the 400-meter freestyle at the 1996 U.S. Olympic Trials for swimming… Won a swimming national championship in the 800-meter freestyle… Went to the national championship finals in swimming 17 times… Was a six-time NCAA all-American while at the University of Michigan… Two-time Big 10 individual champion… In high school, held New Jersey state records in three events… Member and captain of the national junior swim team.
